The number of unique online viewers of SVOD services in Italy stood at 14.138 million as of June this year.
According to the regulator AgCom, this was 475,000 fewer than in the same month in 2022. Netflix was watched by around 9 million, which was comparable to a year earlier, and Amazon Pime Video saw its total rise by 0.9% to 6.5 million. Disney+ (over 3.4 million) and Sky/Now (1.1 million) also both recoded growth, of 0.4% and 16.4% respectively, while DAZN’s fell by 8.9% to 2.1 million.
Although overall browsing time for SVOD services was 6% higher in June than a year earlier, the main operators were less watched. Netflix, for instance, fell from 196 million hours in H1 2022 to 185 million (-5.5%) in the same period this year, while Amazon Prime Video fell by 26.3%, from 36 million to 26 million hours. Disney+ fell from 15 million to less than 11 million hours and DAZN from 5 million to 4 million. Sly/Now saw a fall of 0.9%.
Meanwhile, VOD platforms offering free services had 36.390 million unique internet users in June, or around 4 million more than a year earlier.
The most visited in terms of average monthly unique users were News Mediaset Sites (with 22.3 million), Sky TG24 (with 9.7 million) and RaiPlay (8 million).
