Disney is close to selling a controlling stake in its Indian operation to Reliance Industries.
Quoting Bloomberg, Reuters reports this would be rather than selling its business, which consists of the streaming service Disney+ and Star India, in parts.
It adds that Reliance competes with Disney in India, with its broadcast venture Viacom18 running the OTT streaming service JioCinema.
Disney’s assets in India are valued at between $7 billion and $8 billion.
Reuters points out that although a deal could be announced as soon as next month, Disney may still decide to hold onto its assets in India.
