More than a third of Spanish households with minors use parental controls when accessing video sharing platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, Twitch and on demand services such as Netflix, HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video.
However, according to the findings the regulator CNMC, the percentage who do so watching FTA television is 14.8% and 20.9% in the case of pay-TV. It adds that 86.1% of households with minor children, or that usually take care of minors, know the child protection schedules on television. This form of protection is better known than the use of means to filter or block content, which can be used for both television content and Internet content.
CNMC also notes that 74.4% of households with minor children or that usually take care of minors do not know the ways to complain or protest about audiovisual content for children and adolescents.
Only 3.2% of households with minors that were aware of this possibility have complained/protested in the last two years.
