ITV has announced plans to transition satellite homes in the Channel, Border Scotland, UTV and Wales regions to high definition.
ITV1 viewers in the Channel and Border Scotland regions will be upgraded to HD on satellite in November 2023, meaning that all regions in the country will now support HD viewing for ITV1.
The broadcaster says the SD signal in these areas will be switched off during January 2024, meaning viewers will need to upgrade to a newer set-top box in order to receive the channel.
Only a small number of people are likely to be affected, given that 98% of digital satellite homes across Sky and Freesat can already receive HD channels, and the changes are taking place in only a small number of areas.
