United Group has issued a statement denying allegations regarding its operations in North Macedonia.
In the statement, quoted by United Group’s N1, it said that on October 4 the country’s tax authorities conducted an inspection of the premises of Total TV and its independent subcontractors. Total TV is a satellite television operator and operates within the United Group.
“Total TV and its subcontractors fully cooperated with tax inspectors and provided all requested information”.
United Group, the statement added, complies with tax laws in all countries in which it operates, including North Macedonia. “The company is confident that the ongoing tax inspections will show total compliance with all tax and legal requirements by the Total TV company”.
N1 says that in recent days, certain pro-government media spread malicious and unfounded rumors regarding tax control. The Informer and other pro-government media outlets in Serbia stated untruths about the objectives of the investigation in their publications, implying that the investigation refers to United Group, as well as its shareholders. The investigation only concerns Total TV. In addition, the tabloids openly violated the presumption of innocence and claimed that Total TV was guilty of tax evasion. “Unfortunately, certain media outlets outside of Serbia reported these baseless accusations without checking their origin or conducting research”.
United Group will, it is added, take all necessary legal actions to protect its reputation and the truth.
