Slovenia had 25 registered VOD services as of the end of the first half of this year.
Furthermore, according to data published by the regulator AKOS, there were a total of 67 legal or natural person, holding a total of 114 valid permits, allowed to carry of TV activities. Almost one in four (15) had more than one permit and in total they held 62, or over half of the total.
AKOS notes that there were 31 licences to offer thematic TV channels, and a total of 55 TV channels, including some from other EU member states, could be distributed in Slovenia.
The regulator notes that a pay-TV package on Multiplex C has been discontinued this autumn. There are currently 10 free-to-view terrestrial TV channels, namely five from the public broadcaster RTV Slovenije and one regional channel of “special importance” on Multiplex A (which distributes must-carry services), two on Multiplex C and one each on the two still operating local networks.
