United Group hires Tomas Cizmic

October 10, 2023 12.33 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

United Group has appointed Tomislav Cizmic as CEO of Telemach Slovenia. He will succeed Adrian Jezina, who has led Telemach since 2017, from November 7.

Jezina will remain an integral part of United Group, continuing his work as CEO of Telemach Croatia (Hrvatska). In Croatia he successfully integrated Tele2, Optima and Total TV into one single converged operator and drove a rollout of fibre across the country.

Cizmic is a seasoned chief executive with 25 years of leadership experience. He joins Telemach Slovenia after six years as president of the managemen board of Mercator Group (2017-2023). Prior to being appointed to this position, he held various executive roles across Mercator’s regional operations. He has also held various executive positions in the automotive sector in Southeast Europe including with ACH Group and Dicar Budget Car Rental.

Commenting on the appointment, Victoriya Boklag, CEO of United Group said: “We are delighted to welcome Tomislav to our team. His leadership experience, especially at the helm of one of Slovenia’s largest firms, will provide invaluable insights to Telemach Slovenia, as we will continue to grow our business in the country while delivering high-quality services and a superior customer experience.”

“On behalf of United Group, I want to thank Adrian for his excellent work and his achievement in generating such significant growth for our company in Slovenia. As CEO of Telemach Croatia, Adrian will now focus on building United Group’s presence in Croatia and tap into the full potential we see in this market“.

Jezina added: “During the past six years, Telemach Slovenia has significantly strengthened its position to become the number one in fix broadband and number two in mobile postpaid services. We have seen consistent growth in our customer base and increased our market share. I am proud of these achievements and confident that under Tomislav’s leadership, Telemach will continue to go from strength to strength. I wish him well in his new role“.

Cizmic said: “I am thrilled to be joining United Group and working for Slovenia’s fastest-growing telecommunications provider. This is one of the most innovative and dynamic sectors there is. Under my leadership, Telemach will continue to be a hub of excellence and the top choice for customers seeking the best services on the market. Together with my colleagues at United Group we will ensure that Slovenia remains technologically innovative, open, and competitive”.

In Slovenia United Group operates Telemach Slovenija, the information web portal N1, Sportklub television channel, media house Adria Media and e-commerce platform Shoppster.
