Whip Media’s annual survey into viewer satisfaction on the major US streaming platforms has seen Max hold on to top place while simultaneously experiencing its largest decline in overall satisfaction among all SVODs compared to last year.
The Warner Bros. Discovery platform dropped 6 points to 88%.
Second place Hulu showed no change in overall satisfaction from last year, now one point below Max.
Satisfaction with Disney+ declined -3 points to 85% from 88%, while Peacock showed the largest gain in overall satisfaction, increasing +6 points to 74%, backed by viewer enthusiasm for its content slate. However, it still holds the lowest ranked position in overall satisfaction and is tied with Prime Video in 7th.
What’s happening is a rise in the mid-tier platforms such as Apple TV+, Hulu, Peacock,
Prime Video and Paramount+, which benefit from the quality and variety of their programming.
Apple TV+ took the spotlight and is ranked 4th in overall satisfaction among subscribers, increasing 5 points from last year to 81%. Apple TV+ remains solidly ahead of Netflix and Prime Video in overall subscriber satisfaction. Original series like Shrinking and Hijack are encouraging subscriptions as are add ons such as Major League Soccer (MLS).
Netflix fell to 6th place, down 3 points, which is a smaller decline than the previous year, but still a continuation of a three-year downtrend in overall satisfaction.
