The European Parliament is looking into the possibility of ending geo-blocking in the audiovisual sector.
Legislation prohibiting geo-blocking between EU member states on the sale of goods and services came into effect in December 2018.
However, an exception was made in the case of audiovisual services.
This is now being questioned in a draft report on the implementation of the regulation geo-blocking since it came into effect five years ago.
The report’s rapporteur is the Polish MEP Beata Mazurek and she will present it at a committee meeting later this week (September 28-29).
The deadline for amendments was July 12.
