Canal+ renews Premier League rights

September 21, 2023 19.54 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Canal+ has renewed rights to the entire English Premier League in five countries until 2028.

In France, all 380 matches per season will be offered exclusively on the Canal+ channels as well as on myCanal, and in particular the digital channel Canal+ Premier League.
The rights also cover Switzerland (French language only), Czech Republic, Slovakia and Vietnam on an exclusive basis.

Commenting on the renewal, Maxime Saada, chairman and CEO of Canal+ Group, said: “We are delighted to have acquired the exclusive broadcast rights to the Premier League for several key regions of the Group. Above all, it is a source of great pleasure for our subscribers, who unanimously recognise the Premier League as the most competitive championship in Europe, with the best clubs and players on the planet involved. This would not have been possible without the exemplary work of our teams, whose great professionalism I applaud”.

Jacques du Puy, CEO of Canal+ International, added: “The Premier League has been a strong pillar of our broadcasting strategy in Vietnam and Switzerland for more than 10 years and has been launched recently in Czech Republic and Slovakia where it has been already widely praised by our customers. We are therefore very happy to continue entertaining our subscribers with coverage of this exceptional competition”.

Paul Molnar, chief media officer at the Premier League, said: “The Premier League is delighted to extend our longstanding partnership with Canal + until the end of the 2027/28 season. Canal+ is an outstanding partner and has continued to deliver market-leading and innovative coverage across its established and new digital platforms. We look forward to Canal+ continuing to be the home of the Premier League across these important territories”.
