Croatia’s Agency for the Protection of Market Competition (AZTN) has initiated proceedings against the Zagreb-based company HD-Win-Arena Sport to determine if it distorts competition in the distribution of sports content in the country.
In a statement, it says it took the step on July 26 following a preliminary examination which it undertook on the initiative of Telemach Croatia.
It was able to conclude that HD-Win’s actions put Telemach at a disadvantage in the transmission of pay-TV channels compared to its competitors.
AZTN goes on to say that it will now undertake a concrete procedure to determine if HD-Win has abused its dominant position in such a way that it also put other companies at a disadvantage.
It concludes by saying the initiation of the proceedings “does not prejudge the decision of the AZTN in this case, since the decision will be based on the finally established factual situation in the procedure”.
