German news channel WELT is now making selected content from its catch-up service available to smart TV viewers via the red button on the remote control.
Parallel to the currently running TV programme, the entry menu for further documentaries, reports, news, channel series such as WELT Talk and podcasts from WELT will then appear at the bottom of the screen.
The new application, which is based on the HbbTV standard, enables seamless switching between the linear channel and WELT’s on-demand library on smart TVs. Navigation through the offer is done with the arrow keys; with the ‘back’ button the viewer returns to the TV programme.
Visoon, a joint venture by Axel Springer and Paramount, handles advertising sales for the HbbTV offer. WELT is part of German media group Axel Springer.
