Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene have opened Monaco’s first public broadcaster.
TVMonaco went live on Friday 1 September from a 1,200 metre-squared site in Fontvieille.
The launch event took place in the Salon Honneur at the Louis-II stadium in front of an invited audience. At 7.22 the monarch was given the task of pushing up the fader that launched the channel.
His father, Prince Rainier III, launched TV Monte-Carlo in 1954.
TVMonaco is part of the international broadcaster TV5 Monde and will broadcast programmes across the environment, current affairs, sport and lifestyle.
The channel is being distributed across Monaco, via MonacoTelecomTV, and on TNT/DTT across the French Riviera.
