RTL AdAlliance partners with Xiaomi

August 30, 2023 12.15 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Xiaomi has entrusted RTL AdAlliance advertising sales rights for Xiaomi TV+.

The international media sales house will add the free advertising streaming TV (FAST) platform, integrated into Xiaomi smart TVs and available as a stand-alone app in the Google Play Store to its growing CTV portfolio.

Xiaomi TV+ offers users over 100 digital TV channels and users of a Xiaomi smart TV can access the service as soon as the device is connected to the internet. The channels are additionally available to Android users via the Xiaomi TV+ app.

Xiaomi TV+ channels are free to watch and do not require a subscription. The channel selection offers advertisers valuable interest-driven advertising environments as they cover a wide range of audiences and interests, including news, movies, entertainment, sports, children’s programming, and more. Advertisers can book TV spots within a linear ad break embedded within the live channels, replicating the look and feel of traditional TV advertising. Via ad podding the ad breaks can be individualised on a household level and are composed programmatically and via direct booking. Spots can directly target specific audience segments such as foodists, automobile fans, or film and series watchers, based on IAB categories.

Commenting on the partnership, Stéphane Coruble, CEO of RTL Ad Alliance, said: “Today’s consumers watch more video content on their TV screens and mobile devices than ever before. Digital propositions have both raised and diversified the overall consumption. Online offerings, including short form videos, video on demand streaming, and FAST channels add to the traditional broadcast TV experience. Xiaomi TV’s distinct selection of FAST channels are a great addition to our attractive TV and Connected TV offering across the four biggest markets in continental Europe. Our RTL AdAlliance portfolio can combine the interest-driven channels on Xiaomi TV+ with all other forms of video consumption on smart TVs to create a 360-degree inventory approach, helping advertisers to plan TV advertising strategies to cater to the consumption habits of viewers today”.

Eugene Lu, head of programmatic advertising, international internet business department, Xiaomi, added: “Our channel selection offers something for every taste. A proposition that creates attractive advertising space for brands that search for audience-driven, yet brand safe inventory. RTL AdAlliance packages these channels into a well-rounded offering of TV and CTV advertising that meets the same quality criteria we aspire to.

“The locally rooted and highly specialised sales teams RTL AdAlliance provides within markets and on an international level are uniquely positioned to help advertisers maximise the potential of our portfolio. We are very glad to partner with RTL Ad Alliance to bring true value to our customers while guaranteeing the best user experience”.

As the sales partner for Xiaomi’s FAST channels, RTL AdAlliance will offer the inventory within Xiaomi TV+ as part of its larger CTV offering to international advertisers looking to reach users in Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. RTL AdAlliance provides Xiaomi with a comprehensive sales infrastructure through a pan-European sales approach and local RTL sales units within key markets
