German news channel ntv has launched a new HbbTV app, enabling viewers to access current news and videos directly on their TV screen.
The service, which is available via the red button on the remote control, allows users to switch seamlessly between the linear TV channel and the on-demand content.
“The new ntv HbbTV app combines the linear with the non-linear TV experience for viewers,” said Bianca Wannemacher, Chief Product Officer Digital News Products at RTL News. “Our new app makes it even more intuitive to access the most important news in text and pictures as well as news videos at any time. Our advertising partners also get even better opportunities for addressable, attention-grabbing placements of their messages.”
The new app, which was developed in cooperation with Hamburg-based agency TeraVolt, is available on most TV sets (from 2015).
