United Media teams up with ESPN

August 28, 2023 10.18 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

United Media has signed a multi-year contract with ESPN to bring exclusive broadcasts of NCAA basketball and American football league games to Sport Klub channels across the entire Adriatic region.

The deal will also include top-tier sports documentary shows and access to an extensive archive of the greatest boxing matches.

Sport Klub viewers in Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and North Macedonia will have the opportunity to watch at least five basketball and American football matches every week. Additionally, they will be able to watch the complete “March Madness,” the NCAA tournament that determines the national champion. Its audience will also have access to all the Bowl games, which are the highlight events of the American football season.

The American football season commences at the end of August and extends until December, featuring all 43 Bowl games. The basketball season is scheduled from November to March. Sport Klub will be broadcasting all the games from “March Madness,” a tournament involving the top 68 teams from the season. This tournament will culminate in the Final Four event in 2024, taking place in Glendale, Arizona, from April 6-8.

Commenting on the agreement, Nemanja Simeunovic, the CEO of Sport Klub, said: “American college sports were a fundamental part of our programming schedule when Sport Klub was first established. We are thrilled to once again provide our viewers with the opportunity to witness the exceptional talents of athletes from around the world. Simultaneously, the intense rivalries between universities, coupled with their approach to sports, closely resonate with our perspective in Europe. We are equally excited about our access to the ESPN archive, as it will allow us to revisit the early mornings spent watching boxing matches. The addition of high-quality documentary shows will further enrich Sport Klub’s offerings, making them even more diverse and appealing”.
