Slovenian TV head Uros Urbanija dismissed

August 25, 2023 11.25 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Council of RTV Slovenia (RTVS) has unanimously agreed to dismiss Uros Urbanija, the acting head of Television Slovenia.

N1 reports that the main reason for his dismissal was serious violations in handing over powers to an unauthorised person.

Specifically, Andrej Grah Whatmough, the former DG of RTVS, gave Urbanija the authority to sign financial documents in the amount of €25,000 and authorised him to further transfer the powers, but only up to the amount of €5,000. Urbanija transferred this authority to the long-time assistant director of Television Slovenia for finance, but without restrictions. On top of all that, she was not employed at RTVS at that time.

The Council of RTVS has appointed Andraz Pöschl, the former editor of the culture and arts programme at Television Slovenia, to head the TV broadcaster.
