Vodafone Ukraine has completed the acquisition of Frinet, a company that provides fixed broadband services under the brand name O3.
Frinet was founded in 2008 and operates in Kyiv and the Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhya, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Kyiv, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Chernihiv regions. It has built its networks using FTTx and GPON technology using 10 and 40 Gigabit fibre-optic lines and modern managed equipment from leading manufacturers. This allows it to provide each subscriber with internet access speeds of up to 1 Gbps. Frinet currently has over 163,000 subscribers.
Commenting on the acquisition, Olga Ustinova, CEO of Vodafone Ukraine, said: “Our belief is that the fixed business of Vodafone Ukraine should develop in order to serve more subscribers, providing them with high-speed Internet services, including on the basis of modern GPON (Gigabit optical network) technology”.
