7.3 million watched England take on Australia in the semi-final of the women’s World Cup on BBC One with an additional 3.8 million streams on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Online.
The peak audience of 7.3 million makes the game the most watched match of the tournament so far.
Following the historic victory, match highlights and clips were streamed 2.7 million times on BBC digital platforms.
Prior to the tournament there had been concerns that the relatively early kick offs in Australia and New Zealand might dampen viewer enthusiasm. However, the success of Sarina Wiegman’s team has continued to build audiences.
BBC One coverage of England’s World Cup Final against Spain will begin at 10am on Sunday 20 August.
