Spanish public broadcaster RTVE has begun tests for a second Ultra High Definition (UHD) channel.
The new TVE UHD 2 will be officially available from February 15, 2024 alongside the first channel that will be known as TVE UHD. Ultimately the channels are expected to replace the established La 1 and Teledeporte.
Access to the channel is dependent on whether viewers are served by one of the transmitters currently testing the new service.
A DVB-T2 decoder and a 4K/HEVC capable TV are also required.
The UHD channels will use capacity assigned to RGE2 within the current National DTT Technical Plan.
