The government in Kosovo has suspended the licence of the country’s leading privately owned TV station Klan Kosova.
Reuters reports that it did so due to a registration error, something that the station said it resolved, as previously requested.
It adds that the registration error related to municipalities of Kosovo being referred to as cities in Serbia.
The move has been condemned by the Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AGK) as an attack on the media. It has also been criticised by the US, Italian, French, German and British embassies, along with the EU Office, in the Kosovan capital, Pristina.
Broadband TV News notes that Klan Kosova has also strongly criticised the move, which was made by Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MINT), and also threatened legal action.
