The European Commission has extended its investigation into the proposed merger of Orange and MásMóvil to further assess the impact on competition in the Spanish market.
According to Cinco Dias, the two companies have responded to the EC’s decision to focus on the retail sector and have continued negotiations.
It adds that Meinrad Spenger, the CEO of MásMóvil, has affirmed that if the EC decides to impose conditions such as the sale of assets to give the green light to the transaction, there would be no problems because many operators have applied to acquire them.
The companies include Avatel, Finetwork, Adamo and Digi.
