Representatives of the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) have confirmed their readiness to cooperate with leading OTT services, including Megogo, Kyivstar TV, Sweet TV, Vodafone TV, Setanta Sports, for broadcasting matches of the Championship of Ukraine for the 2023/24 season.
According to UPL, the joint agreement is aimed at expanding the audience, popularising the Championship of Ukraine and ensuring wider access to UPL football matches.
It adds that during the meeting between the parties, it was decided that at the initial stage, the UPL Championship matches will be broadcast free of charge to the audience. This decision is intended to attract new viewers and support fans of Ukrainian football. A working group will be created for the further implementation of the UPL-TV joint product and the development of a paid broadcast model that will help league clubs stabilise their financial situation, take into account the interests of clubs and fans, and meet the needs of the development of Ukrainian football.
It will include representatives of UPL clubs and specialists from Megogo, who will jointly determine the steps to implement this project.
UPL goes on to say that cooperation between UPL clubs and leading OTT platforms is an important step forward for Ukrainian football and will contribute to the creation of new opportunities for all stakeholders. It is expected that this partnership will help increase the popularity of the Championship of Ukraine and improve the quality of broadcasts for viewers.
It concludes by saying that fans will be able to watch the matches of the 1st round of the Championship of Ukraine for the 2023/24 season on the platforms Megogo, Kyivstar TV and Setanta Sports. Negotiations are also underway with the OTT services Sweet TV, Vodafone TV and Volia.
