Sportworld launches in over 190 countries

July 24, 2023 09.33 Europe/London By Broadband TV News Correspondent

Sports aggregation platform Sportworld is launching in over 190 countries on Samsung smart TVs and mobile devices (iOS/Android) at the occasion of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Sportworld, which German app developer B1 SmartTV introduced in German-speaking countries in May 2022, provides access to sports content – live, linear, on-demand, paid or free. The global service is initially available in German and English with more languages to follow.

“With the international availability of the Sportworld app, we are setting a milestone in global sports distribution,” said Dr Robert Niemann, CEO of B1 SmartTV. “Our platform provides fans with easy access to a previously unmatched variety of sports content.”

Through the global EPG, users get an overview of current and upcoming sports events from various providers. The service is accompanied by interactive content hubs, created in collaboration with broadcasters, leagues, associations, clubs and athletes.

In addition to the free line-up, Sportworld offers subscription service “Global Sports Pass” which includes pay-TV channels European League of Football TV, Motorvision.TV, Fitness Nation and fight24.tv. A global sports news channel to be added soon. In addition, American Football fans can unlock all ELF games with the “European League of Football Game Pass”. Users outside the German-speaking countries are offered a 3-month free subscription.

With more than 160 channels in over 50 countries, Sportworld enables direct, free access to live games of the FIFA Women’s World Cup. A real-time data channel visually summarises key facts and statistics for users worldwide. Additionally, a separate content hub bundles content related to the tournament.
