28 years after its launch, German TV channel Super RTL is getting a new name: RTL Super.
The move comes as part of the unification of RTL’s brand architecture, reports German industry magazine DWDL.
“Under the strong umbrella brand RTL, we combine the whole variety of great entertainment and independent journalism across all channels, genres and offers,” Julian Weiss, Chief Marketing Officer of RTL Deutschland, told the magazine. “In doing so, the RTL umbrella brand as a central promise always comes first, followed by the respective product differentiation.” In other words, Super, which has been in front so far, has to come second in the future.
Alongside RTL Up and the pay-TV channels RTL Crime, RTL Passion and RTL Living, RTL Super will thus “decisively shape the consistent image of an RTL family of channels around the RTL umbrella brand”, according to the broadcaster. The declared goal is to sustainably strengthen the RTL brand “as a leading European entertainment brand and to harmonise the brand architecture within the entire RTL Group – nationally and internationally, from the corporate brands to the channel and format brands, across all digital platforms”.
The new name and design will be introduced on August 15, 2023. The children’s brand Toggo, which airs on Super RTL during the day, will remain unchanged.
