Altice International and its affiliates have suspended several key representatives, managers and employees in Portugal and abroad while an investigation into corrupt activities at Altice Portugal continues.
In a statement, Altice International also said it is providing all the cooperation requested by the Portuguese authorities and that it and its affiliates have launched an internal investigation in Portugal and across other jurisdictions. In addition, it will with immediate effect review and reinforce the approval process on all procurement, payments, purchase orders and related processes both in Portugal and at the Altice International level. It will also consider all legal options, in all jurisdictions.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, the scandal surrounding Altice began last week when Armando Pereira, the co-founder of Altice, was detained on suspicion of corruption, tax fraud and money laundering. Altice’s co-CEO Alexandre Fonseca, subsequently decided to suspend himself during the investigation.
Broadband TV News notes that Altice International has not provided the names of the employees it has suspended.
