The Swedish Privacy Protection Agency has issued a rebuke to Allente after the TV platform took five months before responding to a customer’s request to delete their personal data.
The person had also requested that their information was not used for direct marketing purposes, but continued to receive sales calls, in breach of GDPR.
Allente, formed in 2020 from the merger of the Viasat and Canal Digital platforms, believed it had deleted the data 22 days after the original request. However, the company tool significantly longer to inform the person concerned.
According to the IMY, Allente is obliged to respond to any complaint with one month and inform them of what measures have been taken.
However, the organisation regards the issue as a minor breach and will take no further action.
