Gazprom-Media’s OTT platform Premier will shortly see several important changes.
Speaking in a session at the Russian Creative Week, its deputy DG Makar Kozhukhov said they included the launch of a recommendation system.
He added: “When we talk about online cinemas and content, it is more important not how many users came for a specific project, but how many users managed to keep. If after watching one series the audience remains, then the business can be considered working. The main result should be the development of new verticals. For the last nine months we have been actively working on a recommendation system, by the end of the year it will “roll out” and is already working in test mode. The Premier product will also change soon – we will inform you later”.
Kozhukhov also said that Premier is actively developing video service technologies that have an impact on business metrics. The platform is doing extensive work to improve the user experience, including in terms of design and functionality.
He emphasised that Premier has never depended on foreign content, as it consistently produces its own. Last year the number of online cinema projects amounted to about 50.
Kozhukhov also noted the demand for financial optimisation and long-term user retention as the main trends in the industry.
