The Spanish government has empowered the regulator CNMC to investigate non-compliance of the Digital Market Act by such companies as Apple, Google, Meta, Amazon and Microsoft.
Quoting a draft of a Royal Decree approved by the Council of Ministers, Cinco Dias reports that such investigations must be carried out in cooperation with the competition authorities of other EU countries. The CNMC must also inform the EC in writing before starting an investigation and of its conclusions.
The Digital Markets Act came into force on November 1 last year but did not apply until May this year
