Sky introduces camera for Sky Glass

June 22, 2023 11.09 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Sky has released its planned Sky Live ‘interactive’ camera that will enable Sky Glass households to interact with family and friends.

The product was promised at the launch of the integrated streaming TV in October 2021.

Sky Live will enable users to interact with family and friends through video calls or use the Watch Together button on screen to have them watch the latest shows as if there were with you in the room. The body tracking technology makes it possible to play motion control games or attempt to get fit with a workout. A Mvmnt companion mobile app provides real-time feedback on your form directly to your mobile.

Background noise suppression technology enables the sound to be crystal-clear.

“Sky Live makes your TV much more than just a TV, by introducing new entertainment experiences for the heart of your home,” said Fraser Stirling, Global Chief Product Officer, Sky.

Other features include the use of the Zoom videoconferencing app and the ability to transfer calls to and from a mobile.

Sky Live is available for £6 per month on a 48-month contract and £12 per month on a 24-month contract, the UK recommended retail price is £290.

Earlier this month, Apple announced an integration of the iPhone to its Apple TV device through a videoconferencing upgrade to tvOS 17.
