Toshiba releases QLED TV with built-in Fire TV

June 21, 2023 11.11 Europe/London By Julian Clover

One of the UK’s leading brands in television displays have announced the launch of a new range of TVs with built in Fire TV.

Toshiba’s QF5D TVs are available in 43”, 50”, 55” and 65” models with prices starting at £349.

Customers can access hundreds of thousands of films and TV series through favourite streaming services such as Prime Video, Netflix, NOW, Disney+ and BBC iPlayer. Customers can also access Freeview Play which brings viewers a seamless combination of live, catch up and on-demand content from the public service broadcasters including ITVX, Channel 4, UKTV Play, My5, and BBC iPlayer.

“Customers in the UK have been loving Toshiba TVs with Fire TV built-in, so we are excited to expand the line-up even further with the launch of QF5D TVs,” said Emma Gilmartin, Director of Fire TV Europe. “Our collaboration brings together Toshiba’s QLED technology and cinematic picture quality with Fire TV’s intuitive, content-forward experience that allows customers to easily find content they want to watch and control their smart homes with Alexa.”

According to Toshiba its QLED technology delivers “a range of one billion colour shades, standard compressed broadcasting content is restored to its original brilliance for a natural and realistic picture, even when watching in brightly lit rooms.”

Powered by Toshiba TV’s TRU Picture Engine, TRU Resolution technology automatically upscales non-4K content, enabling viewers to experience movies and TV shows in the highest resolutions. TRU Micro-Dimming technology analyses 300 different zones to further enhance the contrast of an image by optimising the darker and brighter regions to create a more fluid and realistic image. With added TRU Flow, the QF5D analyses the image and frames to minimise judder effect and keep up with fast-paced action scenes, providing the ultimate cinematic viewing experience.

Bart Kuijten, Commercial Director – Toshiba TV UK said: “We are thrilled to expand Toshiba’s cooperation with Fire TV with the launch of the QF5D with Fire TV built in, giving our customers access to a huge range of entertainment all from one place. The QF5D is packed with tech, offering incredible picture quality with fantastic, enhanced colour reproduction, making it the ideal model for people to enjoy more of their favourite big screen moments.”

Viewing experience is further enhanced thanks to Dolby Vision. When compared to a standard picture. Dolby Vision can deliver never-before-seen colours, highlights that are up to 40 times brighter, and blacks that are 10 times darker.

The Toshiba QF5Ds down firing stereo speakers have been paired with Dolby Atmos audio processing.
