Two original movies that premiered on Prime Video in the last two weeks have become the best-performing local originals released by the Amazon streamer.
Feature films My Fault (Culpa Mía, Spain) and Medellin (Medellín, France) launched two weeks ago across 240 countries and territories. Their release follows the global success of Prime Video’s Argentinian original movie Argentina 1985, which earlier this year was an Academy Award Best International Film Nominee and Golden Globe Award Best International Film Winner.
Following its worldwide release on June 8, Spanish local Original My Fault has become the biggest travelling non-English language movie launch in Prime Video history. The film, based on Mercedes Ron’s best-selling Culpables book trilogy, was the number one movie worldwide on Prime Video during its opening weekend, and since launch has ranked in the top 10 most watched titles in over 190 countries, including US, UK, Australia, India, Argentina, and France.
Medellin, which follows a young YouTuber fascinated by Pablo Escobar, launched on June 2 and is the second biggest launch of a non-English language movie ever watched in more than 170 countries internationally including UK, US, Spain, Mexico, Germany and Italy. Both titles have more than 75% of their viewing coming from outside their country of origin (Spain for My Fault, France for Medellin).
