New docu channel for Slovakia

June 15, 2023 07.54 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Slovak media group Joj will launch a documentary channel later this summer.

Known as Joj Svet, it will be ninth Slovak channel and 14th channel in its portfolio. Joj Svet will be available to subscribers of individual satellite, cable, IPTV and OTT operators, as well as in the Premium package of the Joj Play streaming platform.

It will only be available in Slovakia and broadcast solely in the Slovak language, with none of its content, both local and international, produced before 2014.

Commenting on the new channel, Marcel Grega, CEO of Joj Group, said: “I am proud that Joj TV will enrich the program offer with a documentary channel that is in demand by viewers, which will bring a wide range of genres, a space for domestic creators as well as the expected added value in the form of educational programmes”.

Martina Cyprichova, head of Joj Svet, added: “Joj Svet is a challenge that hides the determination to show Slovakia the whole world. A world fascinating, inspiring, beautiful despite everything we do to it. I believe that Joj Svet will be a meaningful television station that will bring joy, well-being, relaxation, information, maybe a new perspective, new facts for someone. I am very much looking forward to this process and, last but not least, I appreciate the trust I received from the management of Joj TV. Personally, I am attracted to cooperation and support of Slovak documentary production, whether cooperation with important names in Slovak documentary production, or with students whose work deserves attention”.
