The Russian OTT services Premier and Start, as well as TV channel TNT Music, could be suspended for up to three months for propagating “LGBT propaganda”.
According to local reports, they could alternately be fined up to R4 million (€44,000).
The cases against Premier and Start will be heard in Moscow courts on June 21 and June 29 respectively, while no date has yet been set for the court case for TNT Music’s owner Fonbet TV.
The clampdown follows the enactment of a law banning “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations, paedophilia and gender reassignment”.
It was signed off by President Putin last December and reportedly sets fines of up to R400,000 for individuals and up to R10 million for legal entities.
