Vodafone has introduced giga services in four cities in Ukraine.
Using GPON technology, it is now offering residents in Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa and Dnipro download speeds of up to 1Gbps.
Commenting on the development, Olga Ustinova, general director of Vodafone Ukraine, said: “We continue to implement technological innovations in Ukraine and currently make available a unique data transmission technology that was previously used for our own network facilities. The technology is chosen to ensure the intensive consumption of the Internet, which is growing at a geometric rate every day. If in the world this is due to the rapid development of technologies – life in constant streams, virtual reality, the popularity of IoT solutions, then in Ukraine the need for active use of the Internet is also caused by the war. People work from home, study from home, and even help the military from home. They are very worried, especially in big cities, whether the internet will work, whether there will be enough network capacity, how much the provider will be able to maintain the operation of services on alternative power sources, etc., because high-quality and stable communication in our country is now vitally important to everyone Vodafone will provide it by providing access to the internet, including through the GPON network”.
