Virgin Media Ireland is now delivering speeds of 2 Gbps to homes in Tralee, Killarney and Letterkenny.
The Liberty Global operator is continuing with full fibre network upgrades in areas such as Dublin, Cork and Louth.
The announcement represents a significant milestone in Virgin Media’s three-year transition to a full fibre network. 1 Gig broadband was introduced across the company’s entire network in 2020.

The announcement marks a step-change for our business as we will now offer superfast and reliable fibre broadband services in new regions across Ireland, resulting in greater consumer choice and increased competition.”
Recent research carried out by Amárach, on behalf of Virgin Media, shows that following the pandemic, a third of consumers not only relying on their home broadband for their entertainment and streaming needs, but also for their home working needs.
