Saudi Telecom Company’s TAWAL plans to build and expand on its investment across Central and Eastern Europe, where it recent acquired United Group’s mobile infrastructure unit in Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovenia.
Speaking to Capital, its CEO Mohammad Alhakbani added that it also plans to develop partnerships with other operators as an independent provider of infrastructure services and in the implementation of 5G.
In addition, he said that TAWAL’s European operation is likely to be legally based in Bulgaria, given that the largest part of the assets – about 3,200 of 4,800 towers – it acquired from United Group are based in the country.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, in April United Group agreed to sell 100% of its mobile tower infrastructure unit in Bulgaria, Croatia, and Slovenia (TowerCo) to TAWAL for €1.22 billion on a cash free and debt free basis, fully payable in cash.
