Ukrainian operators team up with Microsoft

May 25, 2023 12.19 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Ukraine’s Starlight Media and Kyivstar have partnered with Microsoft to create a new data-centric product for working with analytics and digital content.

The solution allows for automated access to all YouTube analytics and reception of the most important data – audience, views, income, segmentation by channels, projects and geolocation – in one window and in real time. The project, developed and implemented together with specialists from Kyivstar and Microsoft, has been named Data Ware House. It is built on Microsoft Azure cloud technologies and already actively used by Starlight Media.

Commenting on the development, Vitaly Gusev, CCO of Starlight Media, board member responsible for Starlight Production and Digital, said: “We are starting to implement a new digital strategy, the basis of which will be content- and data-centric approaches. Data Ware House is an important example of an innovative solution that, thanks to high-quality work with data, will allow us to change our approaches both to assessing the potential of each content unit and to making decisions about creating new projects”.

The Starlight Media group’s channels already have more than 50 million subscribers on YouTube. Its digital division continues to work not only on their development, but also on the creation of new channels and projects, in particular, for Western and international audiences.

Svitlana Mogilevska, head of the digital division, Starlight Media, added: “Our approach to work and development now corresponds to the models introduced by IT companies. This applies both to understanding the absolute value of data and to Starlight Digital’s team-building approaches and overall strategy. We are grateful to our partners – Kyivstar and Microsoft – for working on this product and plan to continue development in this direction. Yes, now we have already created the position of data analyst and we believe that together with such specialists we will be able to achieve a new level of efficiency and quality of work with analytical data”.

Ilya Polshakov, director of development of new business areas, Kyivstar, said: “We are sure that for Starlight Media, data-centricity is a strategic course for long-term growth and business differentiation with the ability to make decisions based on accurate new generation data analytics. And Kyivstar is ready to help in this, remaining a reliable partner for the implementation of innovative technologies. Our team has many years of experience working with analytical solutions, data visualisation, machine learning and modeling products. And this allows, as in the Data Ware House project, to undertake the implementation of complex cloud solutions at the individual request of companies – from the client’s idea to the finished product and its further development”.
