Netflix’s recently launched ad-supported tier already has almost 5 million active users per month.
According to Reuters, the news was given by the company at its first presentation of an annual ad industry event known as the “upfronts” by Jeremi Gorman, its president of global advertising.
It adds that monthly active users count all adult profiles used on one account with ads, while children’s profiles do not run commercials.
Netflix executives also said they wanted to work with advertisers to create new types of advertising that could only be done on a digital service.
Broadband TV News notes that Netflix launched its ad-supported tier in 12 markets last November and it had 1 million users in the US alone as of this March.
