Digi’s Romanian subsidiary RCS&RDS ended the first quarter with 5,507,000 subscribers to its cable and DTH services.
This, according to the company’s latest results, was around 6.2% more than a year and like the increase in its fixed internet RGU total (11%, to around 4,309,000) was primarily due to its investments in expanding its fixed fibre-optic network and to its attractive fixed internet and data and pay-TV packages. Its revenues in Romania rose by 3.7% year-on-year to €244.8 million.
Meanwhile, Spain is proving to be an increasingly lucrative market for the company, with its year-on-year revenues increasing by 29.4% to €143.3 million. This was down to growth in mobile telecom services and fixed and data RGUs over the period.
Digi’s profit in Q1 amounted to €10.8 million, down from €334.5 million a year due to the loss of profit from discontinued operations.
