Magyar Telekom saw its TV subscriber base in Hungary grow by 4.7% in the year to March 31.
According to the company’s latest results, the total stood at 1,394,752 as of the end of Q1 thanks to an increase in the take-up of IPTV services. Meanwhile, blended TV ARPU increased by 6.7% over the year to HUF3740 (€10.09). This, the telco points out, was affected by the fact that in 2022 VOD service revenues were reclassified as TV revenues.
Furthermore, this also contributed to TV revenues increasing by 11.8% to HUF15,565 million.
In North Macedonia, Magyar Telekom’s subsidiary saw its TV subscriber base increased by a more modest 1.2% over the year to 147,759. However, TV revenues fell by 1.1% to HUF1,413 million.
The company also points out that competition is also expected to remain intense with Telekom Srbija’s entrance to the North Macedonian telco market in 2022.
Magyar Telekom as a whole had revenues of HUF112,306 million in Q1, or 10.6% more than in the same period last year. However, its net profit attributable to owners of the parent was 43% lower at HUF10.519 million.
