RTL Group ended the first quarter with 5.909 million paying subscribers for its streaming services RTL+ in Germany and Hungary, and Videoland in the Netherlands.
This, according to its latest results, was 37.1% more than a year earlier. Significantly, it gained 400,000 streaming subscribers in Q1 alone.
Paying subscribers for RTL+ in Germany increased by 38.4% year on year to 4.389 million (3.172 million in March 2022). The strategic partnership with Deutsche Telekom to bundle RTL+ Premium in Magenta TV continued to contribute significantly to the growth.
Meanwhile, paying subscribers for Videoland in the Netherlands grew 9.4% year on year to 1.243 million (1.136 million in March 2022).
The number of paying subscribers for RTL+ in Hungary (including RTL+ Active) was 0.277 million at the end of March 2023. RTL+ in Hungary was launched in November 2022.
Streaming revenues from RTL+ and Videoland amounted to €74 million in Q1. This was up 15.6% on the €64 million a year earlier and was thanks to th rapidly growing number of RTL+ subscribers in Germany.
Broadband TV News notes that RTL Group is aiming for €1 billion in streaming revenues in 2026.
