Moldova ended 2022 with a total of 731,189 subscribers to pay-TV services.
This, according to the regulator ANRCETI, was 0.1% higher than the 730,648 a year earlier. As of the end of 2022, the number using cable TV stood at 138,800 (19% of the total) and IPTV 592,400 (81%).
At a national level, the pay-TV penetration rate per 100 households stood at 64.6% (64% in 2021). In terms of turnover, Moldtelecom was the leading provider of pay-TV services with a share of 44.9% (+14.5pp), followed by TV Box 23.5% (-5.3pp), Orange Moldova 18.3% (-3.1pp), and others 13.3% (-6.1pp).
Pay-TV ARPU in 2022 was MDL37.2 (€1.87), down 24.4% on the previous year’s total. However, pay-TV revenues as a whole rose by 38.1% to MDL325.8 million.
Total spend in the country’s electronic communications market increased by 0.2% to MDL6.126.6 million.
