The flagship channel of the Flemish public broadcaster in Belgium, VRT, has changed its name from Eén (One) to VRT 1.
The public broadcaster wants to place its own brand more central.
“Thanks to the name change, VRT 1 is directly connected to [streaming service] VRT MAX and it is even clearer to viewers that they can also find all the programmes of VRT 1 there,” said VRT chief executive Frederik Delaplace.
It was previously announced that the parent brand VRT would become more important by organising and centralising the brands around VRT. The objective is to make it clear that all the VRT brands belong to same family.
For the time being, sister channels Canvas and Ketnet will retain their current names.
