French broadcast regulator Arcom has officially issued authorisations for new terrestrial licences for TF1 and M6.
The new agreements for the general entertainment channels will come into force on May 6, 2023, and run for a 10-year period.
For Rodolphe Belmer, CEO of the TF1 Group said: “I am incredibly happy to have signed the agreement between TF1 and ARCOM today. TF1 has always had the ambition to bring people together. It brings together all audiences. Being accessible free of charge to all French people on a TNT frequency is essential for a group like ours, which aims to assert itself as the reference destination for family entertainment and information in France.”
“The M6 Group and all its employees have patiently built its success since 1987, benefiting from the support of the public and its partners, producers or advertisers,” added Nicolas de Tavernost, Chairman of the Management Board of M6 Group. “This decision allows the M6 Group to look to the future with confidence and to pursue the necessary transformation that new uses and new competition entails.”
Under the new agreements the broadcasters are required to commit to issues around media education, online protection, and the environment.
