Four Dutch TV providers (Delta, KPN, T-Mobile and VodafoneZiggo) are planning a joint bid for the rights to top-flight Dutch football.
The prospective partners have made a joint approach to Eredivisie CV with a proposal to take on the television rights to the Eredivisie from 2025.
The current rights holder is the Disney-owned ESPN, which replaced FOX Sports in the region.
As reported first on broadcastmagazine.nl, the TV providers want to ensure Dutch football remains accessible to everyone. They’re not insisting on any broadcast exclusivity.
The proposal was sent to the Eredivisie board on Monday, where it will be considered by the 18 clubs in the league.
The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets has been informed of the plans.
