Eurovision Sport opts for Ad Insertion Platform

March 28, 2023 10.27 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The EBU’s Eurovision Sport has chosen a monetisation solution from Ad Insertion Platform (AIP) for live streaming.

Through their Sport Digital Platform, where the sports federation, broadcasters, and social platforms work together, Eurovision Sport aims to ensure that sport gains maximum exposure to new audiences worldwide to complement the coverage of EBU Members.

In 2022, AIP integrated their ad insertion technology and monetisation services into AllAthletics.tv. AIP provides the US patented SSAI solution for all countries covered by EBU rights and integrates with EBU members’ ad servers. AIP also provides the ad sales service, AIP Monetiz, for some specific countries where needed.

The collaboration will see both companies exploring monetisation opportunities on digital content. AIP has partnered with major SSP networks to create a new ad sales house unit that has been designed to “unleash” new video advertising opportunities while orchestrating and managing the programmatic ad sales process.

AIP has also provided their CDN to optimise the delivery of All Athletics live sports streaming content. Using their flexible and scalable CDN solution, Eurovision Sport can deliver live All Athletics content on every screen, guaranteeing a superior quality of experience (QoE) for fans, members and stakeholders while reducing video streaming costs.

Commenting on the development, Laurent Potesta, CEO, AIP, said: “We are thrilled to implement our innovative solutions with Eurovision Sport. Live sports streaming is a huge revenue opportunity for content providers, but we also know that sports federations have complex ecosystems with multiple stakeholders – not only broadcasters and fans, but also athletes, clubs, and sponsors. With our end-to-end solutions and services, we can simplify the integration, allowing marketers and buyers to reach an untapped audience while broadcasters can grow revenue”.

Jean-Baptiste Casta, Eurovision Sport’s head of strategy & business operations, added: “The EBU’s sport digital platform aims to support our members’ coverage by offering complementary exploitation of the content we jointly owned. We believe we have a unique opportunity to provide more content to sports fans on a free-to-all basis and therefore both maximise the reach of sports and develop new ways to reach audiences. We are delighted to explore this new field with Ad Insertion Platform. AIP’s technologies provide relevant ad insertions directly within video content, giving advertisers ad placement formats to deliver brand messages in a privacy-safe way. Together, we are looking at bringing ad monetization to a whole new level in 2023 to support our projects across a range of events and countries”.
