The new Netflix Basic with Ads tier has already reached one million active users in the United States alone.
According to internal data seen by Bloomberg, the user base grew by more than 500% in the month following its launch and another 50% in its second month.
The streamer has also met its projected delivery targets it had promised to advertisers, running against the early narrative that suggested the new sub basic tier was struggling to attract new subscribers after failing to meet initial targets.
Netflix Basic with Ads was created as part of a new drive by the streamer, which has also begun a crackdown on shared accounts to give subscriber numbers an additional boost.
Subscriber numbers had reached 231 million customers at the end of 2022 including 74 million in the United States.
According to Antenna, Netflix Basic with Ads now accounts for 20% of new sign ups.
