Digi Spain Telecom has entered into an investment agreement with abrdn to finance the rollout of a FTTH network in Andalusia, Spain.
According to its parent company Digi Communications, Digi Spain is in the process of deploying a FTTH network aiming to cover up to 2.5 million homes passed in 124 municipalities in Spain. While it has so far almost passed 1 million homes, the deployment of the rest of the network passing up to 1.5 million homes will take an estimated three years.
The deployment will require an investment of up to €300 million, committed in substantially equal parts by Digi Spain and abrdn, and potentially also involving bank financing.
The agreement with abrdn covers the provinces of Almeria, Cadiz, Cordoba, Granada, Huelva, Malaga and Sevilla.
