This was announced by Christian Seifert, founder and CEO of Dyn, in Cologne. The former managing director of German football league DFL is setting up the service with a team led by CEO Andreas Heyden and COO Marcel Wontorra. Dyn will be available via smart TVs, PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones.
The streaming service, which is backed by shareholders Christian Seifert and media company Axel Springer, secured the rights for numerous national and international competitions in table tennis, volleyball, basketball, handball and field hockey in recent months.
Through an agreement with sports streamer DAZN, European handball is now being added to the portfolio: Dyn will show matches of the German teams in the EHF Champions League and the EHF European League (women and men). In addition, Dyn plans to screen selected games of international top clubs as well as the final tournaments of the EHF club competitions.
“When it comes to pricing, we rely on a simple, transparent and fair model: customers can choose between a monthly subscription and a discounted annual subscription. An annual subscription with a minimum term of 12 months will cost €12.50 per month, while a monthly subscription will cost €14.50,” Heyden said. The Dyn subscription includes access to all live matches, highlights and editorial formats of all leagues and will be offered on the website www.dyn.sport from summer.
Seifert stressed: “Dyn will be more than a sports channel. At the heart of our concept is a partnership with sports and for sports. By providing more free-to-air content than ever before, we are significantly increasing the visibility of leagues and competitions. Through the agreed revenues from media rights, increased reach for the leagues, clubs and their sponsors, we also support sustainable structural growth in sports through our ‘Move Your Sport’ concept.”
When signing their contract, fans are asked which of the sports shown by Dyn they particularly want to support. 10% of the net subscription price then goes directly to the relevant league at no extra cost to the fan. This does not increase the subscription price. The leagues commit to investing the additional funds provided by Dyn in individual concepts for promoting young talent.
Another component of the new concept will be the Dyn Media Network. Partner associations, leagues, clubs and media partners will receive editorial material such as highlight video clips and accompanying interviews for distribution through their own channels via the Dyn Content Desk, a cloud-based system for uploading and retrieving editorial content.
“Partners in our Dyn Media Network will have the opportunity to distribute more video content than ever before through their own channels. This also allows trade and local media to benefit from the appeal of our sports with match footage, while further increasing its media presence,” said Wontorra.
